ban thai

i always wanted to explore ruins and historical sites. i've seen ayutthaya in thailand, so it was time to go to sukhothai this time. after that 6-hour bus ride to sukhothai, the motorcycle taxi brought me to ban thai guesthouse. the heat in thailand this april was energy-sapping and i was told that there were days that hit above 38C. good thing, i booked one of those aircon rooms in ban thai's bungalows. the room was very neat and felt homey. the aircon worked well and ban thai's garden-like surroundings added to its appeal. it was just 3-minute walk from the bus (songthaew) that would bring you to sukhothai's historical park. it was also close to the night market, which sold mostly fruits and wide array of thai snacks. the wifi worked well, although only in the cafeteria. when i went back to my room, the signal was very poor. what i liked about ban thai is its very accommodating staff, especially their  12-year veteran, p' ta dam, the cook. p' ta dam gave me pointers on how to enjoy sukhothai's historical park, as well as some travel tips if i wanted to go to chiang mai or head back to phitsanulok. when i was leaving for the bus station, p' ta dam even gave me an extra bottle of mineral water!
