bakhawan

i only had a night to spend in kalibo so naturally, i wasn't able to travel all the way to caticlan for some me time during this trip last year. instead, i found myself in kalibo mangrove (bakhawan) ecotourism park. the nice lady from marzon hotel suggested i check out this ecotourism park and so i did. walking on its eco-trail (made of bamboo), my guide said that this is one of the most successful reforestation projects in the country. this ecopark shores up the coastal barangay against storm surges, while also providing additional income to mangrove farmers. for only 20-peso entrance fee, one can "commune" with nature. it is one of the best "eco-walks" i had.
