this is the second part of my trip to vietnam! during my stay, i had to deal with a whole of stuff on trackers and other deliverables. good thing, the vietnam team brought me to nice places to eat so i was able to sample some of the best ho chi minh city had to offer.
after seeing the vietnamese movie, floating lives, we had a nice dinner at a popular hot pot joint. i wasn't sure if that was just an appetizer but we immediately jumped on roasting small slices of fresh goat meat, which was marinated in soy sauce and other special herbs in vietnamese way of course. i was pleasantly surprised with the flavor and i actually thought of requesting rice to go with it. but i didn't. i had to have it like how locals have it, hehehehe! i also tried their saigon beer, which like the singha beer, tastes like our san mig light. when the goat meat was done, we had a serving of prawns. but this time, the prawns were not marinated and served fresh and skewered. the local patis and special sauce made it also very nice. after that, the hot pot came. the broth was made from goat meat as well, and all the other ingredients were served raw - leafy veggies, tofu, crispy tofu skin, noodles, local sweet potato and a host of other rootcrops i'm not familiar of. all these ingredients were then placed in the hot pot and the result was great! no need to have rice because the varied ingredients combined with special broth will make you busy from tasting a whole lot of flavors. very nice!
