it was a quick trip once again. in fact, it was even quicker this time. i flew in sunday late afternoon and flew back to manila wednesday afternoon as well. my second time in ho chi minh city (hcmc) allowed me to stay in sheraton saigon. when i checked agoda, this hotel's got one of the most expensive rates... and that goes without breakfast. anyway, since this hotel is just walking distance to our new office in vietnam, the booking was made. i just needed to find good banh mi for my breakfast and i'll be ok.
when i checked in, got the biggest horror - there was no free internet connection in my room! when you're traveling on a business trip, you can't really work compared to when you're in your home office. since my time will be spent talking with the members of my team, chances are emails will only be answered when i get back in the hotel. to make it even more complicated, colleagues in that office usually leave earlier to avoid hcmc's monster traffic jams. that meant rushing to get all things done before leaving the office. oh well.
anyway… the good food in hcmc more than made up for the hotel horrors. got good sampling of authentic pho, spring and summer rolls, com tam (grilled pork and thinly shredded pork on top of vietnamese broken rice), banh xeo (crepe), among many others.
i wasn't able to buy those class A north park bags in saigon square but i did get to buy some nice things in ben thanh market. till the next trip!
